When Agent David Westmore is assigned the task of tracking down a
prison escapee from Washington State, the trail leads him to the small
town of Cottonwood, Colorado. He arrives under strange circumstances
to find a town that has been virtually cut off from the outside world. A
mystery has descended upon the town, and it seems the very man he’d
been tracking is somehow at the center of it all. Wrapped up in the
mystery are meadowlarks, dandelions, chocolate milkshakes, and the
sudden disappearance of one of Cottonwood’s favorite citizens—Old
Blind Carl. Another resident—Rebecca D’Arcy—is also threatened by a
hidden darkness that is methodically closing in on her, even while the
love of her life has returned to her after many years.
All Agent Westmore wants to do is locate his escapee and return to
Washington, but it seems the fates have another mysterious journey in
mind—for both him and Cottonwood—a journey that will test all that he
and the town’s residents thought they knew about the universe—and
about themselves. When even science fails to provide an answer to the
mystery, the most important clue might come in giving up solving it with
their heads, and turning to their hearts to find the timeless miracles
hidden within each moment.
In an age of skepticism, can science answer all questions, or does there
still remain room for mystery in the world? Even beyond mystery—is
there room for the miraculous? The reader is invited to journey to
Cottonwood and discover the answers to these questions and more. . . .
